A leaked image has revealed what appears to be an AMOLED version of the upcoming Garmin Instinct 3 Tactical. The photo was first published on the Vietnamese version of Garmin’s official website, buried among promo material for the Tactix 8 Series.
It didn’t take long for Reddit users to spot the image and begin sharing it. The watch pictured shares the same styling seen in earlier leaks of the Instinct 3 Tactical—namely, the rugged look and military cues—but this is the first time an AMOLED screen is part of the package. Unlike the previous sighting, which showed a MIP display with Solar charging, this version clearly uses a high-contrast, full-colour screen.
Another piece of the puzzle appears
Back in February, Garmin influencer Kristian Hansen posted photos from a hiking trip in Indonesia, wearing what looked like a Tactical edition of the Instinct 3. Although the post didn’t mention the Tactical branding directly, a zoomed-in look at the watch face revealed the word “Tactical” clearly displayed. That post was subsequently removed.
That earlier model had a MIP screen and appeared to feature Solar charging, much like previous Instinct releases. This new image from Garmin Vietnam adds another layer. It shows a different display type and watch face, suggesting that Garmin is likely planning multiple Tactical variants for the Instinct 3 lineup.

The image on Garmin’s website does not clearly show the word Tactical at the bottom of the watch – at appears blurred. To dispel all doubt, we dug up a more high res version of the same image. As can be seen – there’s no doubt as to what line this watch belongs to.
It’s not clear yet whether this AMOLED model will include all of Garmin’s typical Tactical features, such as stealth mode, night vision compatibility, or a kill switch. Those features have historically been part of Tactical editions, but no spec sheet or descriptions have been leaked to date.
No official word but signs point to a near-term release
Garmin hasn’t confirmed any details about the Instinct 3 Tactical. But with one model already seen on the wrist of a known influencer, and another now visible on the company’s own website, it’s reasonable to think that a release is close. Most likely in the next month or two – certainly before the summer.
